Well, the Patriots might have finally caught a break. After watching Jacoby Brissett struggle to live up to his “veteran” moniker, while throwing interceptions in the end zone, New England fans got to see the quarterback they drafted at #3 overall to be their QB of the future.

On his first drive in the game, Maye made some plays with his legs and his arm going 3/4 for 18 yards along with a 4 yard scramble on 2nd and 12 before setting up a manageable 3rd and 5 (which he converted).

Maye drove the Patriots down field and although the drive did not end with a touchdown, it did end with the Pats putting their first points on the board and tying the game at 3-3.

On his second drive in the game, Maye continued to make good decisions and process what the defense were showing him very quick. It is clear that Maye possesses a very high football IQ, and will only continue to develop that knowledge the more he gets to play.

The best play came on a perfectly developed screen pass to Rhomandre Stevenson to convert a 3rd and 11. He then finished the drive with a qb keeper on a option and ran it in for the score to put the Patriots up 10-3 over the Eagles.

I am definitely excited to see more of this young qb play, and have a good feeling about his future in the league if he continues to develop at this rate.

“People ask me what I do in the summer when there’s no football. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for fall.”
