The NFL season has returned, and the first game of the season did not disappoint. The game started out being delayed due to rainy weather, which you think would’ve been an advantage for the Ravens. You would’ve thought wrong.
After a strong first drive where Derrick Henry carried the ball 5 times for decent yardage and capped the drive off with a 5 yard TD run, the king was barely utilized the rest of the game in a strange decision by John Harbaugh.
Add to that, a Chiefs team that drafted the fastest rookie in the league, and you have a recipe for a big fat L. It also helps that the Chiefs once again get the benefit of one-sided officiating. The Ravens were called for illegal formation at least 4 times, while fans noticed the Chiefs were jumping early and not getting any calls.
Overcoming all of this, Lamar Jackson still had a chance to at least send the game to overtime and it came down to the last plays. In particular, there were 2 throws where the Ravens had a chance to score, and when they thought they did on the second attempt, Harbaugh was signaling they would be going for 2 points to win the game.
Not the start the Ravens were looking for to start the season, I’m sure. On a positive note, they get a bounce back game against the Raiders next week, and the refs will not be rigging the game against them.
Make the NFL fair again.
