The 49ers pulled off a close win against the Buccaneers to move to 5-4, but serious concerns remain.
If you only saw the final play of the game, you would think Jake Moody was a hero. This could not be further from the truth.
Jake Moody went 3/6 kicking field goals in his return, missing three straight field goals before his game winner.
The game should’ve never been this close, but it was thanks to special teams miscues and questionable clock management by the notorious Kyle Shanahan.
Things got so bad at one point, even Deebo Samuel had to put hands on the special teams unit.
This game was a difficult one to watch for 49ers fans, because this is a game that should’ve been over early, but the problems that have plagued the team for years continue to remain an issue.
On a day that should’ve been a celebration of the return of one of the leagues most elite rushers, Christian McCaffrey, it was instead a display of the deficiencies that can not be solved by the running back’s return.
Things weren’t all bad for the 49ers, Brock Purdy made some great plays to continue drives, and one of the best moments of the day was Ricky Pearsall scoring his first touchdown of his career.
Also, this touchdown catch by George Kittle is one of the books.
The 49ers have a lot of work to do if they want to get back to the Super Bowl caliber team they have been recently, and it starts on Special Teams.
